Shipping Correspondents Elect Moses Ebosele, Others As New Executives

The Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN) has elected Moses Ebosele, Editor, City Business News as its new President.

 

Ebosele, who was returned unopposed in the elections held in Lagos on Friday takes over from Eugene Agha of Daily Trust Newspaper who bowed out after a successful tenure.

 

Others elected into the new Executive Committee and sworn in immediately include, Tony Nwachukwu of Authority Newspaper as Vice President, Shulammite Olowofoyeku, Editor Maritime Today online as Secretary, and Steve Agbota (Sun Newspaper) as Treasurer.

In his acceptance speech, Ebosele thanked members of SCAN for the opportunity to serve.

 

He emphasized the importance of collective efforts, urging members to correct him whenever he makes mistakes.

 

Ebosele said his administration would prioritize training of members and strengthen collaboration with industry stakeholders to bring about positive changes to the association.

 

The new exco is expected to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.

 

Immediate past President, Eugene Agah, appreciated all members for giving him the opportunity to serve.

 

He said the achievements recorded so far, which would not have been possible without the unwavering support of professional members of SCAN.

 

Highlighting the SCAN Dockworkers’ Day as a milestone achieved by his administration, saying, “it was one noble objective that we needed to push forward, to put SCAN in its rightful place in the Maritime sector.

 

“I urge the new EXCO to leverage on this modest achievement while also opening new frontiers,” he stated.

 

Secretary to the SCAN Election Committee, Yusuf Babalola, congratulated all members for having a peaceful transition.

 

He applauded Agha for his commitment and dexterity to move the association to the next level.

 

“You, however, ran a good race and ended strongly, your labour will always be appreciated and respected,” he stated.

 

He assured the new Excos of member’s  unalloyed support, saying: “Your success is our success, we will avail you any day, any time,”

 

A reputable member of SCAN, Kemi Dauda, also appreciated the immediate past exco members. “We appreciate your immense contributions and God Almighty will continue to bless and protect you all,”

 

Another committed member of SCAN, Suleiman Idris Alooma, said: “I am more proud of belonging to SCAN as a result of the outcome of our frank, family talks, brotherly and sisterly love we displayed and the leadership acumen shown by our BOT members.

 

“There is no better way to show our unity than the way we arrived at our decisions today,” he stated

 

He, however, assured the new executive of members full support.
