Shippers’ Council Woos Shipping Firms To National Single Window

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has hosted met with shipping companies and the National Single Window (NSW) Secretariat to accelerate the implementation of the NSW project.
The project aims to reduce human interface in shipping processes and procedures, enhancing trade facilitation and port efficiency.
Speaking on behalf of Executives Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NSC, the Director Consumer Affairs Department, Mr. Celestine Akujobi, said that Council is committed to engaging a broad range of stakeholders to ensure the project’s success.
He stated that NSC is working closely with other agencies and shipping companies to ensure the project’s effective implementation.
The Project Team Director, Tola Fakolade said that NSW project will streamline trade processes, eliminate data duplication, and simplify compliance, driving economic growth.
The representative of China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO), seeks including of more government bodies working on the corridors of the ports in the project’s design to address cargo interception and duplication of duties.
Olumide Adefisan, Head MSC Nigeria Shipping Line Customer Service Operation & Manifest Documentation, descriped the NSW as a one-stop shop for documentation and urged the implementation team to address cargo description characterization concerns.
The meeting addressed technical implementation issues, terminal operators’ inclusion, and duplication of efforts by government agencies.
