The Nasirul lahi-l-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), has urged Muslim youths to get engaged in righteous business activities that would guarantee their economic independence.
The leading Islamic organization, during a sensitization seminar in Lagos, gathered youths from all educational backgrounds to mentor them on various business opportunities and professional ethics that would distinguish them in their economic endeavors.
Speaking at the programme themed: “Women Connect To The Youth”, the National Women Affairs Secretary, NASFAT, Alhaja, Suwebat Bola Kupolati said: “The programme was youth-based, and it focused on mentoring the youth.
“We have observed that the youths need guidance and for them not to fall into doing illegal businesses, or run into scam or fraud, we decided to bring the youths together and bring professionals and experienced personalities in various walks of life to share their knowledge and experiences and advice them, so that they can be rightly guided.
“Once they are rightly guided, they will not do businesses that is not legal. They will know the right thing to do, how to do go about it, so that they would be able to succeed,” she said.
On balancing career with religious obligations, Kupolati said Islam is total submission to the will of Allah, emphasizing that “in every aspect of our lives, religion must come into it. Whatever you are doing, you must always be conscious of Allah.
“As they are doing their businesses, they should be conscious of Hallal (righteous business), and they should move away from businesses that would move against them on the Day of Judgement,” she urged.
National Youth Ameerah, Hajia Kafayat Oyelere-Oyewo, said the prgramme was organized by the National Women Affairs Committee in conjunction with the Youth Wing of NASFAT.
She said: “We invited various professionals from different fields such as the banking sector, information communication technology (ICT), education, medicine and sciences, and engineering, among others.
According to her, the event was to guide the youths on how to leverage on what they have been doing well, what they are suppose to do and what they have to improve on, so that they can as well be better persons.
She said the event is taking place in Lagos Zone1, Zone 2 and Ogun State, and other zones of the federation.
Oyelere-Oyewo urged youths to leverage on entrepreneurship for them to have financial independence.
The Coordinator of the programme, Alhaja Monsurat Ibidapo, said NASFAT sees the youths as the leaders of tomorrow, so it decided to find a way of building them professionally, so that they can be successful in their chosen career.
She urged the mentees to deviate from unrighteous money making ventures and engage in rewardable businesses, which would help them to meet their financial obligations and create employment.
A mentor and safety advocate, Alhaji Jamiu Badmus, applauded NASFAT, saying: “When you mentor people, you will create an avenue for leaders to give birth to leaders.
He enjoined the youths and every Nigerian to be conscious of safety in their daily endeavors, saying safety measures are very easy and needs patient and carefulness.
“The first thing I want to advice our people is as simple as “Be patient, so as not to be a patient. No need of short cut. Lets try to do things the proper way. If you check the mirror today, whom you are going to see, is responsible for your safety. Safety starts with you,”
