More Tributes To Late Fearless Preacher Muyideen Ajani Bello

The passing of Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, a revered Islamic preacher known for his fearless stance on social issues and unwavering commitment to community welfare, has continued to attract tributes from well meaning Nigerians and the entire Muslim Ummah.
Owned for his fearless preaching and unyielding commitment to social justice, Sheikh Bello left an indelible mark not only on his community in Nigeria but also on the global Islamic discourse.
Nigerians both at home and in Diaspora have continued to issue tributes to the great preacher. Fellow clerics, community leaders, and ordinary citizens expressed their gratitude for Ajani Bello’s guidance and inspiration.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier said he shares in the pain of loss with the Muslim Ummah over the passing of the Islamic scholar.
National President, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji AbdulRafiu Ademola Sanni, said as a Missioner of the Northern State Council of the society, Sheikh Bello played an instrumental role in promoting unity, faith, and moral values across diverse communities.
“His exemplary leadership, profound knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the cause of Allah have left an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals.
“As we bid farewell to our beloved Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, let us honor his legacy by emulating his dedication to faith, service, and humanity,” he stated
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, described the death as “shocking and devastating”.
The former Osun State Governor also commiserated with the people of Ibadan, where Bello hails from, the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, the immediate family, friends of the deceased and the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN).
Describing late Bello as someone who lived a pious and exemplary life that was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity, he his input contributed in no small measure to the spread and understanding of contentious issues as they relate to true and unambiguous teachings of Islam.
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said: “The late Sheikh Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello would be remembered for his great sacrifice and commitment to the propagation of Islam, honesty, dignity, harmony and moral development of our people.
“I pray that Allah grants the repose of his soul and grants his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he stated.
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), said that the whole Muslim community of Nigeria will miss Sheikh Bello.
The Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, described the Islamic scholar as one in a million, a rare gem, a genius of all time and the most fearless of all preachers.
“Sheikh was so generous he could give his right eye to the needy. Even as an Islamic scholar, he gave scholarship to a large number of indigent students,” he stated
Akintola continued, “There is no Islamic scholar so loved by South West Muslims like Shaykh Muhyideen Bello. Every Islamic organization in the region yearned to listen to his insightful lectures while young and old Muslims listened to his recorded speeches for guidance and inspiration. Mammoth crowds attended his gatherings in their thousands.
“Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello attended the popular Arabic Institute of Nigeria (Al-Mahad al-‘Arabi an-Naijiirii), Elekuro, Ibadan in the 60s. He later served as a missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Kano branch for decades. He retired to his hometown a few years ago.
“One of his last outings was the turbanning ceremony of the Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, as the Jagunmolu Adinni of Nigeria which was held in Lagos on Sunday, 29th September, 2024 just two months ago.
“Shaykh’s death has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill in Islamdom. The whole Muslim community of Nigeria will miss him,” he said.
Executive Chairman, Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC Nigeria), Disu Kamor, said “Shaykh Bello’s tireless efforts in propagating the message of Islam, his unwavering commitment to Islamic education, and his selfless dedication to the welfare of the Nigerian people will forever be etched in our memories. His insightful lectures, thought-provoking sermons, and compassionate counsel inspired countless individuals to embrace the teachings of our noble faith.
“We pray that Allah (SWT) grants Shaykh Bello forgiveness, mercy, and the highest rank in Jannah. May his legacy continue to illuminate our path, guiding us toward righteousness and spiritual growth,” Kamoru said.
President, Papa-Ajao Muslim Assembly (PAMAS) and Chief Imam Al-Ameen Central Mosque, Alhaji Jamiu Salisu Olonade said: “Sheikh Bello was not only a scholar in Islamic jurisprudence; he was a community leader, a mentor, and a father figure to many. His compassion extended beyond the walls of the mosque; he was always there for those in need, offering guidance, support, and solace during times of hardship. His unwavering commitment to social justice and community service left an indelible mark on the lives of many,”
Nigerians are mourning the loss of a leader whose impact transcended religious affiliations, as he advocated for societal change applicable to all citizens. The fearlessness with which he championed justice set a precedent for future leaders, challenging them to prioritize the needs of the communities they serve.
