Modo Ante To Unlock New Revenue Streams For Govt, Private Sector

A government, public sector and political consulting firm, Modo Ante through its Eko Revenue Plus Summit, is set to unveil innovative, technology-driven, and citizen-friendly solutions to unlock fresh opportunities to enhance the state’s revenue collection.

The move is expected to ensure continuous provision of improved social amenities and economic opportunities for the citizens and residents.

Addressing the media at a pre-conference programme, Chief Executive Officer, Modo Ante, Joko Okupe, said the summit is expected to help the government and the private sector operators develop and implement innovative platforms targeted at harnessing new revenue streams.

Stating that the summit will start from Lagos and later extend to other states of the federation, he said the private sector operators in the property, digital economy, informal sector, circular economy and energy sector would also benefit from the summit.

According to him, the new innovative revenue stream, if diligently implemented would position the state as a model for innovative governance and economic innovations in Nigeria and beyond.

Okupe stressed that the summit is expected to explore initiatives that would support job creation, entrepreneurship and the growth of small businesses.

According to him, by fostering a conducive environment for economic activities, Lagos should expect to see significant advancements in its revenue base and economic landscape.

He said the initiatives and solutions to be discussed would focus on long-term, sustainable, yet innovative revenue-generation solutions that foster economic stability and growth.

According to him, the summit is a collaborative effort between Modo Ante and Lagos State through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue as well as supported by Wema Bank, as headline sponsors.

Noting that the new revenue does not have to do with taxation, Okupe said the model would not put pressure on the private sector, nor the residents, but it would be a win-win situation for all.

Head, Technical and Strategy, Modo Ante, Abiola Kabir, said what we are doing is to help awaken the thinking to be models for progress, stressing that the model would unravel strategies to unlock revenue beyond tax.

“The private sector must begin to think about partnering with the government to build a system that will help generate revenue and create jobs, while the states must begin to think about state-level economies that guarantee independent revenue. There is no state that cannot generate revenue and survive on its own, but we have to think and think wisely,” he said.
