Disaster struck in Obalende area of Lagos Sunday when a two-storey building collapsed and killed 10 persons, while seven sustained various degree of injuries.
Acting Coordinator of Lagos Territorial Office, National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed yo SlyNews that the three storey building located on 10, Odo Street, Obalende, Lagos, was under construction and collapsed while deck casting was ongoing.
He said the building was supposed to get to three storey build but collapsed at two storey.
He said search and rescue was still ongoing, adding that the situation was completely under control with the full compliments of Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
Fatinloye added that one of the survivors was a women operating POS around the building.
“A woman simply called madam Nike who came to operate POS was the only woman so far recovered. It was revealed she wasn’t used to work on Sunday but today was the only day she worked on sunday,” he said.
