Fuel Queues Bite Harder, As NNPC Adjusts Pump Price To N855 Per Liter
By Sulaimon Salau
There is confusion in the air as motorists across the country are worried about the current trend in the petroleum sector, as Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) adjusts the pump price for petrol from N650 to N855 per liter.
Just as the motorists were having a sigh of relief with the cheering news that the much awaited Dangote refinery has started production of petrol, the NNPC slammed an increase in pump price, which was swiftly followed by other marketers.
Slye News gathered that the Independent marketers are now selling between N950 to N1,200 per liter depending on the location.
At the NNPC stations, the attendants have immediately affected the new pump price to reflect N855, while many other stations belonging to the same company were under lock and key for lack of products.
This came barely two days after NNPC management disclosed that the firm is owing suppliers of the products $6 billion.
It was gathered, the price was reviewed upward to reflect the global price and reduce the debt burden on NNPC.
The queues at the filling stations have become longer, as motorists now search for the products amid serious concerns.
At many of the filling stations visited by Slye News in Lagos, the queues are causing traffic gridlock on major roads.
