By Abimbola Abdullahi
Nigerians should brace up for a three days erratic power supply, as the nation’s biggest power plant, Egbin is being shut down for maintenance.
The power station, with an installed capacity of 1,320 Mega Watts (MW) has been shut down because the Nigerian Gas company that is the sole supplier of gas to the company has commenced maintenance works on its gas pipelines.
The consequence of this is that the national grid will be short of at least 1320 MW of electricity supply with its attendant consequences on the economy of the nations.
The management of Transmission Company of Nigeria Disclosed on Monday on X handle said: “This is to notify the public that as at 11:13 hours of 18th December 2023, Egbin Power generating station was shut down to allow the Nigeria Gas Company (NGC) to maintain linking gas pipeline supplying gas”
