Nigerians have been urged to use all necessary tools to discourage same sex marriage in the country.
The Guest Lecturer at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, Ramadan Lecture, and National Missioner, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdurrahman Ahmad, said Islam is completely against the activities of the LGBTQIA, which are being popularized all over the world today.
LGBTQIA is an abbreviation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual.
He said gender politics and homosexuality laws across the globe tends towards decriminalization, but Islam forbids it.
Ahmad said gender politics is currently going awry all over the world, hence the need for Muslims to be cautious and Nigerians to shun it completely.
According to him, “These unrighteous habits are everywhere, on phones, schools, books, and even in cartoons being watched by our children. We must be very vigilant so that we do not fall into their trap”
He enjoined parents to strictly monitor their children and guide them against unrighteous acts that are reigning globally now.
“This is a fight that we must fight, we are under siege, the religion is under siege, the righteous ones are being attacked, the nation is being attacked and we must all rise up against this,” he said.
Chairman of the Day and former Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun, enjoined Muslims to always pursue excellence in their endeavors.
Speaking from an economic perspective, Fagboro said Nigerians should endure the condition and make meaningful moves towards improving the economy.
Noting that the harsh economic situation is currently affecting many countries of the world, he said Nigeria is not alone in this situation and Nigerians must change their mindset towards the growth of the country.
The mindset, according to him is to “work for the people, rather than working for personal purses”. He said if people’s mindset can change to work for the people, the nation would be better for it.
He charged the judiciary and the media to be upright in their duties of condemning evil and promoting good deeds in the society.
Lecturer, Department of Mathematics, Lagos State University, and the winner Best Doctorate Thesis at the University of Lagos, Dr Aminat Ige-Ariyibi, urged everyone to be kind to their spouses, saying that kindness bring forth blessings to a family especially during the period of hardship in the country.
She enjoined Muslims to always be grateful to Allah (God) in whatever circumstances and never curse any season, as Allah has promised relief after hardship.
She urged the wives to always support their husbands financially, while husbands should also bless their wives with funds and lovely moves in other to have a peaceful and progressive family.
Chairman, NUJ, Lagos, Adeleye Ajayi, urged Muslims to pray for Nigeria to survive the prevailing challenges.
He said: “Pray for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Local Government leaderships and members of their respective cabinets to succeed.
“Lagos State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists identifies with the entire people of Nigeria and pray that Allah accepts all our individual and collective prayers by making the efforts our leaders are currently making yield positive results,” he stated.
