Ariwoola May Emerge Nigeria’s New CJN, After Tanko Resigned

Sequel to the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad, there are expectations that Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will be sworn in as the next Chief Justice of Nigeria, (CJN).
SlyeNews reports that Tanko resigned today (Monday) from his position on health grounds.
Recall that there are accusations of corruption and professional misconduct on the CJN by 14 of his brother Justices of the apex court.
Ariwoola is the next in rank after Justice Mary Odili who retired on May 12, after attaining the retirement age of 70.
Ariwoola, was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2011.
He was a Justice of the Court of Appeal between 2005 and 2011 after having been elevated from the State High Court of Oyo State.
He was first appointed a Judge of Superior Court of record in Oyo State in 1992 from private legal practice.
