- 10 rescued as boat capsize on Ikorodu trip
RESIDENTS of Ajao Estate, Isolo Lagos were thrown into confusion Tuesday night when a gas suddenly went off and killed three people.
SlyNews learnt that the gas belonging to a panel beater exploded at about 1858 hour in his workshop near a roll of 12 shops in Ajao Estate.
The Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) Lagos Territorial Office, Ibrahim Farinloye, told SlyNews that the incident led to the death of three persons and rescue of two people, while one was immediately resuscitated.
Others with severe burns are responding to treatment in the hospital.
Farinloye said seven shops were partially affected.
He said the explosion occurred while the technician was trying to up his Oxycytelene flame popularly known as cabad’s cylinder.
In another development, 10 passengers were rescued alive when their boat capsized on its way to Ikorodu.
“Their boat took off from Lagos Island going to Ikorodu before it capsized, but the passengers were rescued with special support by operators and volunteers who pulled resources together for the rescue.” he said.
