Panic as tanker fire rocks Lagos

There was panic in Egbeda area of Lagos State early Tuesday morning, as a petroleum-laden tanker burst into flames after an accident on Egbeda – Iyana Ipaja road, Egbeda, Lagos.
Acting Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial Office of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed this to SlyeNews said no life was lost in the incident.
He enjoined motorist coming through Banire/Ejigbadero Bus-Stop to take alternative routes.
Farinloye said: “At about 0020 the NEMA received distress alert on a tanker fully loaded with about 45,000 litres of PMS exploded immediately after crashing at Banire/Ejigbadero Bus-Stop, Egbeda, Lagos State.
“The tankers was said to have loaded at Abule-Ado.
“No live was lost or property destroyed. However, the tanker with no registration number is still half filled with PMS and crossed the major highway,” he stated.
Farinloye said the Police Disaster Management Unit and Gowon Estate Police Station have apprehended the driver of the truck.
Efforts are on to transload the content to another tanker before road can be opened for traffic
