Three Trapped, Nine Rescued As Two-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos
About three people are still reportedly trapped under the rubbles as a two-story building collapses in the Ikorodu area of Lagos today (Tuesdays).
The house located at Otta Ona Junction, Mobil Filling station bus-stop, Ikorodu, Lagos went down at about 14.02 hours, today.
Confirming the incident, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said the two-storey building undergoing construction collapsed with three victims trapped under the debris at the aforementioned location.
He said nine adult males have been successfully rescued and attended by LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Unit.
Oke-Osanyintolu added that no death has been recorded so far as a result of the incident.
He said the cause of the collapsed building is yet to be ascertained as at the time of writing this report.
He however, noted that safety measures were activated with the operational area cordoned-off at the incident scene, while the Agency`s Heavy-duty equipment, ‘the excavator’, has been activated and deployed to aid in the quick rescue of victims trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the search and rescue operation is still ongoing.
