Business mongul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has revealed how the former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun frustrated works at the Itori Cement plant project.
Dangote, during a revisit to the project site, said Amosun demolished the plant, twice, hence the company abandoned the project. He reaffirmed his commitment to reviving the Dangote Cement Plant in Itori, Ogun State, citing Governor Dapo Abiodun’s intervention as the key reason for the project’s resumption
“I think we need to have it on record that the factory we are visiting now in Itori, is because of his excellency (Abiodun) that we came back. That factory was demolished twice. We started building when Amosun demolished it. The second time, we restarted again, he demolished not only the factory, but including the fencing. So, we left. Right now, with the support of his excellency (Abiodun) we are now back. When you go there, you will be very surprised” Dangote said.
The Itori Cement Plant, set to become Dangote Cement’s fourth greenfield project in Nigeria, is expected to boost local production, create jobs, and enhance Ogun State’s position as a leading industrial hub in the country.
