Four Dead, 15 Rescued As Three-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos

Four persons have been confirmed dead as a three-storey building collapsed at Oriwu Estate, Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos.
Controller South West of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed to Slye News that the total number of death from the incident is now four, while 15 were rescued from the rubbles.

“Giving an update about the incident today, Farinloye said: “Additional two dead bodies retrieved from rubbles and one adult male was rescued as at this morning making one dead recovered and 15 rescued at the three-storey collapsed building incident at Oriwu Estate, Elf Busstop, Inward Ajah, Lekki/Epe expressway Lagos State. Operations ongoing.”
Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said six seriously injured adult males were rescued and were administered immediate medical care by the LRU Pre-Hospital Care Unit, before being transported to Marina General Hospital for further treatment.
He said the agency’s heavy duty equipment (Excavator) was deployed to the incident scene and is still in operation while search and rescue operation is still ongoing.
