The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) is set to gather major industry stakeholders at its 42nd Annual International Conference and Exhibition, slated for November 10th to 14th  in Lagos.

The forthcoming conference themed: ‘Resolving the Nigerian Energy Trilemma: Energy Security, Sustainable Growth and Affordability’ is expected to set an agenda for the industry on the pathway to a sustainable energy transition.

President of NAPE, Dr. Abiodun Ogunjobi, stated that the group is expecting “between 1,500 and 2,000 delegates in Lagos” for the conference and about 125 golfers comprising of Senators and senior leaders in the industry for the golf event in Abuja.

He said the delegates would be comprising of experts, policy makers and global oil and gas investments stakeholders.

He however, affirmed that energy security is the cornerstone of the nation’s economic stability and growth, ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted supply of energy is paramount for industrial activities, economic development, and the wellbeing of our citizens.

He said: “This involves not only increasing our production capabilities but also diversifying our energy sources to reduce dependency on any single source. By enhancing our energy infrastructure and investing in resilient systems, we can safeguard against disruptions and ensure a steady flow of energy to meet our growing demands”.

The President-elect, NAPE, Mr. Jonhbosco Uche, assures that the explorationists’ group would continue its drive for solutions to challenges in Nigeria’s energy space.

He said: “Nigeria is now ranked 84th in the Energy Trilemma index. This shows worse indices when it comes to energy security and Affordability. As the largest association of E&P in Nigeria, NAPE, with over 10,000 membership strength cutting across professional and student members, has placed resolving the Nigerian Energy Trilemma as a priority issue for our conference”.

The group also held a workshop for media professionals covering the energy sector of the Nigerian economy, on “Trends in Energy Transition and AI-Assisted Oil and Gas”.

The Publicity Secretary of the Association Mr. Austin Mgbemere stated that NAPE will continue to partner with the press and other stakeholders in providing platform for learning, nurturing best practices, evolving new solutions, industry advocacy and enhancing economic development.

Speaking at the training session, Chairman board of Trustee, NAPE, George Osahan, expressed concerns that the Nigerian oil production and revenue have continued to dwindle over the years, stressing the need for the government to put in place good policy framework and incentives that would drive people to invest in the sector.
