Labour Threatens Nationwide Strike Monday Over Minimum Wage, Electricity Tariff Hike
The organised labour has declared nationwide strike from Monday 3rd June 2024, following the breakdown in the negotiations over the minimum wage and the hike in electricity tariff.
The two Labour centres, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), vowed to paralyse the government’s activities nationwide.
They cited the refusal of the government to shift ground on the N60,000 and refusal to address the hike in electricity tariff as reasons for the strike.
The organised labour has therefore informed the masses to stock their houses with foodstuff to avoid being caught as the strike may last longer than expected.
NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero and TUC, Comrade Festus Osifo declared an indefinite nationwide strike from Monday, June 3rd over the failure of the federal government to conclude negotiations on a new national minimum wage and reverse the hike in the electricity tariff.
