Customs Oil, Gas FTZ Command Generates N22 Billion In 10 Months

The Port Harcourt Oil and Gas FTZ Command of the Nigeria Customs Service announced a revenue collection exceeding 22 billion naira over the past 10 months.

Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Abubakar Umar, shared this achievement on 21 November 2023 at the Nigeria Customs Service PH Oil and Gas FTZ Command, Marble House, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority Building, Onne, Rivers State.

Comptroller Umar revealed that as of 20 November 2023, the command’s revenue stands at ₦22,413,619,459.00, compared to ₦21,219,846,074.00 collected between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022.” He highlighted a collection increase of over 1 billion naira compared to the previous year.

The CAC expressed optimism about surpassing the annual target before the end of 2023. “By the Grace of God, before December 31, 2023, we will surpass our annual target”.

Comptroller Umar attributed this success to the dedication and resilience of the Command’s officers and men, as well as the cooperation of stakeholders. “I cannot do it alone without the dedication and resilience of my officers, men, and our stakeholders, whom I hold in high esteem.”

Regarding exports, Comptroller Umar highlighted the facilitation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) exports at Bonny Terminal, the export of refined sugar in the Bundu Free Zone by Bua Sugar Refinery, and the exportation of fertilizer by Notore Chemical Free Zone.

Acknowledging the support of Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR and his management team, the CAC expressed gratitude for the enabling environment provided. He pledged to intensify efforts to eliminate revenue leakages within the command.
